Welcome to the Mistral Villas Family Website

Our family has been successfully renting our properties for the last 6 years, and offer our clients a very high standard of accommodation. We aim to meet your needs throughout your stay with us.  We are situated on the Urbanization of Las Tres Calas, 10 minutes drive from the local village of L’Ametlla de Mar.  We offer 3 holiday rental villas which will suit all the family.  Las Tres Calas itself has 3 fabulous Blue Flag sandy beaches and there are many more secluded beaches along the coast, there is also a children’s park, football pitch, small supermarket, bakery, tapas bars and a family restaurant with an outdoor play area for children.  All these facilities are a short drive away.

L’Ametlla de Mar is located on the Costa Dorada on the Eastern Mediterranean coast of Spain; about 45 minutes drive from Reus airport  It is a very quite and peaceful place, but one where you will find all necessary amenities, including supermarkets, good restaurants and bars, a marina, scuba diving, an open air disco and beautiful virgin beaches.  The principal industry is fishing, the town incorporates the largest tuna fishing fleet in Spain. The fish auction takes place in the harbour every working day from 4.00 p.m. Except during May and June.

There are many nice fish restaurants along the beach and in town there is plenty of excellent eateries where you can try the typical dishes.  We recommend visitors to try some traditional Catalan dishes whilst on holiday, especially delicious are Escudella I Carn D'olla, vegetable broth with pork, veal and chicken, Pa Amb Tomàquet, simply rustic bread, can be toasted, rubbed with tomato pulp and dressed with oil and salt; at breakfast it can also be served with ham, sausage or tortilla.  Coca is a very thin dough baked with onions, peppers and other vegetables served with and meats, or fish (especially sardines).

Local activities and sports include golf, tennis, snorkelling, fishing, sailing, kayaking, cycling, rambling/hiking, bird watching and running. It’s an ideal resort for families, outdoor enthusiasts, as well as those looking for a peaceful holiday location.

We offer an excellent fishing package for those looking to catch Catfish or Carp from the River Ebro.

Horse riding is also available to book through our management office, from 1 hour rides to ½ or full day with lunch provided.  There is plenty of good riding tracks in the countryside or close to the beach.  Discounts available when booked through our office.

Spain’s largest theme park, Port Aventura is about 30 minutes drive to the north east and the towns of Tarragona, Reus, Salou and Cambrills make for a very worthwhile day out for their monuments, excellent shopping and restaurants.

There are many places of interest including the Museum of Popular Ceramics whose collection is made up of ceramics from all over the Iberian Peninsula and is considered to be the largest collection of its kind in Europe. There are about 4,500 permanent exhibits.

The Castle of Sant Jordi d’Alfama was built in the XIII century, and was the headquarters of the Sant Jordi d'Alfama Order (templars). The present castle is the restored building of another castle built between XVII and XVIII century.   The Order of Sant Jordi d'Alfama was founded in 1201 by Peter the Catholic, king of Aragon and count of Barcelona. This name was given to it because the order was given the desert of Alfama, just 5 km north of L’Ametlla.

Inland from the Costa Dorada, the interior is both fertile and dramatic, with many places of great historical and natural interest.  The cities of Valls, Montblanc, Tortosa and the beautiful medieval monasteries of Poble, Santes Creus and Scala Dei are all worth visiting.  The picturesque landscapes at Prades and Siurana, the rugged mountains at Tivissa, Cardo and Ports de Tortosa, and the delta of the river Ebro with its labyrinth of lakes and bird watching opportunities.

All of these make up some of the exciting outings that can be enjoyed away from the beautiful beaches and coastal resorts.
